Pegg tops Elite Canada gymnastics field

2009 (Canada.com): Dominique Pegg of
Sarnia, Ont., earned her first major senior gymnastics title
without finishing first in any of the four events at the Elite
Canada women’s meet Friday. Pegg’s best result was a second-place
finish on vault, which helped propel her into top spot overall
with a score of 54.60. >

Israel yesterday selected gymnast Alex Shatilov and judoka Alice
Schlesinger as its athletes of the year for 2009. Both athletes
each won a bronze medal at the World Championships this year. They
will be awarded NIS 40,000. Sergei Weisberg, Shatilov's coach,
also won a NIS 20,000 prize for being coach of the year.

Jamaican champions launch Friendship Camp of
first Youth Olympic Games in Singapore

special guests at the Singapore Sports School, for the launch of
