The19th Japan RG Club Championships was held in Toky, Japan.
From August 29 to 31 altogether 191 national club teams and 573 gymnasts took part at thes big national inventury of Japnese rhythnmic Gymnastics.
Winner of the team category was the leading AEON Club, followed by the Adachi and the Hidosan Rhythmic gymnastics club.
The junior and elite individual winners came from AEON Club:
<< Runa Yamaguchi (AEON) won with 100.600 points in front of teammate Natsuki Konishi (AEON) (95.050).
On third place came the Japanese all-around champion and participant of the Worlds in Mie, Mai Hidaka (Adachi RG Club; 94,250) after a long break of training (injury).

The 2nd edition of the FIG Rhythmic Gymnastic WORLD CUP COMPETITION Pesaro 2010 and to the 2nd International Junior tournament “Città di Pesaro” took place this weekend in Italy, in Pesaro, from 28th to 29th August 2010, whereas the 2nd International tournament “Città di Pesaro” will be reserved to Junior gymnasts.
After the stations from Montreal (February) to Minsk (May) it is the number eight world cup event of the 2010 circuit, but the last and a very important event and a dress rehersal four weeks before the 2010 World Championships in Moscow at the end of September.

Today the new Finnisch national Champion Silja Ahonen won also the second national trials in preparation of the upcoming Rhythmic World Championships, which will held September 19 - 26 in Moscow.

This weekend the rhythmic family made a stopover in Minsk for the "World Cup BelSwissBank".
50 individual senior and 19 junior gymnasts as well as 11 groups from all over the world, even as far as from North Korea and Venezuela, competed in these three days.
Once again the Russian super star Evgenia KANAEVA was unbeatable, not in all-around and not in the Sunday's final.
Togethe with Daria Dmitrieva (rope) and two times with Daria Kondakova Russia landed double successes. Onli one time Byelorussian Lyubov Charkashina came on second with the hoop.
At final day BELARUS won both group finals in front of Japan (5 hoops) and of Russia (ropes/ribbons) ...

The former Russian rhythmic gymnastics Olympic champion Natalia Lavrova died on Friday in a car crash, as local Russian media reported.
Reports said that a car, which Lavrova's sister was driving, smashed into another vehicle on a rural road in the Penza region (700 km southeast of Moscow). Lavrova and her sister died immediately, police said. The circumstances of the car crash are being investigated.
Lavrova, who won Olympic gold medals in rhythmic gymnastics in Sydney (2000) and Athens (2004), was working as a coach of the Club "Dynamo" and the Moscow's Olympic gymnastics center.

Kanajewa: Again unbeateble

A relatively unusual placing in the Group-World Cup of Rhythmic Gymnastics in St.Petersburg, Russia.
Not the hosts were up to their usual role of being the favorites at this last international highlight before the coming European Championships, but instead after mistakes with the exercises ropes / ribbons Belarus won the all-around with 52,350 points ahead of a very convincing German formation, which could keep, with 51,600 points the Japanese with (49,200) at a distance. Among the 8 national groups in total, the Olympic winners Russia only managed 5th place this time and only got through to the finals on Sunday with the 5 wheels. Once again the Olympic winner Jewgenia Kanajewa won after the all-around of all 30 gymnasts (without the Ukraine) again all finals.
Austrias Caroline Weber after position 8 in the allaround was in 3 of the 4 finals.

This weekend world´s rhythmic gymnastics elite is divided between Greece (worlc Cup) and France (Grand Prix). Here in Thiais, the competition had a good representation of the best gymnasts, with Evgeniya Kanaeva from Russia, the current Olympic champion as the top star. And she confirmed all the bets which pointed to her as the favorite gymnast to win the gold medal. She did it without many problems, only with some troubles in her first routine with ball, beating her teammate Dariya Dimitrieva, who got the silver medal with a consistent difference.
At the end all Grand Prix titles were won by Kanaeva and Russia ...

Started on Thursday, March 11, the 5th Portimao FIG World Cup of Rhythmic Gymnastics, and the already traditional Portimao International Tournament for junior gymnast in its 24th edition finished at Sunday.
After Montreal and Debrecen it was the third event of the young season 2010, already! This is definitely one of the biggest meetings before the European Championships in Bremen (GER) in April and so 58 senior gymnast from 22 countries, 45 juniors from 21 countries and 15 groups presented their new choreographies with the new modified code of points. The junior competition is being held following the UEG system that will be also the ones used in Bremen, with the team competition and apparatus finals. Olympic Champion Evgenia Kanaeva was without mistakes but won three of the four finals.
In the group competition Belarus beat the Russians (5 hoops) and Italy won gold with ropes/ribbons ...

At the weekend March 13 - 14 the Finnish Gymnastics Federation "SVOLI" organised its "2010 National Finish Championships of Rhythmic Gymnastics".
Best Finnish gymnast was Julia ROMANJUK, winning altogether three titles:
At the all-around competition Julia Romanjuk got gold, Silja Ahonen from Hämeenlinna got silver and Johanna Vikkula got the bronze medal.
On Sunday, March 14th, at the finals Silja Ahonen took gold with the hoop and silver with the ball and rope and was the favourite of the public. This was Ahonen's first gold medal at the Finnish championships. Julia Romanjuk got 3 gold medals and 1 silver. Johanna Vikkula got 1 silver (with the ribbon) and 2 bronze medals (rope and hoop). Henna Liukko got the bronze at the ball final.

It was a huge knot, which obscured the win for the favorite - the Russian national group, and even the 3 strings and two ropes were not to be untangled after leaving the mat. So the German national group celebrated a victory in Fellbach-Schmiden at the 20th edition of "GYMNASTICS INTERNATIONAL" and moved ahead of the Russian B-formation after 2 exercises with 49,733 : 47,466 points. §rd place belonged to Slovakia (40,280) ahead of Kasachstan (39,708) and the Czech Republic.
But in the juniors the win went clearly to Russia: Daria Swatkowskaja won with 102,950 ahead of the local matador Jana Berezko-Marggrander (99,200) and the Ukranian Viktoria Shynkarenko (98,750).

The first of eight World Cups of the 2010 serie took place in the Pierre Charbonneau Centre of Montreal from January 29 to 31.
Altogether with 29 gymnasts from 12 countries eager to get the year off to a strong start. In addition to the World Cup meet at the Pierre Charbonneau Centre in downtown Montreal, a junior event also took place at the same venue beginning on Friday, January 29th.

After the victory of the Russian figure skating pair Yuko Kawaguchi (28, from Japan) and Alexander Smirnov (25) many discussions were heard about their high B- score, through which they managed to beat the German pair Aljona Savchenko/Robin Szolkowy.
However, not really well known is that the choreographer of the Russian pair who became European Champions in Tallin is a former World Champion in rhythmic gymnastics:
The ribbon- World Champion from 1987 (Varna) Tatiana DRUCHININA (together with Bianka Panova, Bulgaria) is currently working as a choreographer in the team of Tamara Moskvina's figure skating school in St. Petersburg. Also the 2006 Olympic Champions Tatiana Navka/Roman Kostonarov partly worked with her and she is married to the two-time pairs Olympic Champion from Albertville (1992) and Nagano (1998) Arthur Dmitriev.

The Spanish audience had the great chance to enjoy the rhythmic stars for a last time in this season during the Euskalgym 2009, which took place this last weekend in Durango and Bilbao (Basque Country). This event was planned as a national competition for groups, together with an exhibition of some of the best international gymnasts in the world. After a notorious effort of the organization, the names which were gathered resulted really impressive, with 7 of the top 10 gymnasts of the last World Championships in Mie (Japan) in the list:

Three weeks before the 29th World Championships of Rhythmic Gymnastics (Mie, Japan, Sep 09 - 13) and only one week after the Deriugina Cup in Kiev the worlds best gymnasts met at the last and 8th WORLD CUP event of this season in the Byelorussian capital Minsk.
Once again Olympic champion Evgenia KANAEVA won all the four final events and was so the absolutely best gymnast of the 2009 world cup circuit with the maximum scor at all the apparatuses!

Russia’s Gymnast Evgenia KANAEVA, who won the individual all-around gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, won all four World Games gold medals at the rhythmic gymnastics competitions this weekend in Kaoishiung, Taipeh.
The 2007 all-around world champion from Ukraine, Anna BESSONOVA won the silver medals with rope, ball and ribbon.
On second place with the hoop came the Russian Olga KAPRANOVA, who won also the bronze medal with the rope. The other bronze medals went to Melitina STANIOUTA (BLR; ball) and to Galina GARAYEVA (AZE; ribbon).

Russia won nearly all the Medals in Baku...!
From 1978 on (Madrid, Spain), the European Gymnastics Federation (UEG) organized continental championships of Rhythmic Gymnastics.
So the 2009 EUROPEANS 2009 take place from May 15 to May 17 in the capital of Azerbaijan - to the second time after 2007 and after the 27th Worlds, which took place in 2005. After 2008 (Turin) the Dutch company Janssen-Fritsen (J&F) is the official supplier again - also at the upcoming Worlds of Rhythmic Gymnastics in Mie, Japan at the autumn this year.

From the 8th Europeans of Rhythmic Gymnastics on, 1992 in Stuttgart, the European Gymnastics Union (UEG) organizes the continental championships of eilite category together with the junior events.
Every two years the junior program changes and also like 2007 at the 23rd anniversary, just at the same place in Baku, two years later, now the junior group competitions with five ribbons are the content of this year's Europeans of juniors.

Dara DIMITRIEVA (RUS) triple winner at final day!

Three Russian gymnasts are leading at the Saturday's all-around decision of the 2009 International Rhythmic Gymnastics Tournament in Corbeil-Essonnes, France, which tahke place from May 8 to 10.
The young Russian Yana LUKONINA was the best of all-around while Marina SPEKHT (RUS) - leading after two apparatuses made a mistake with the ribbon . Behind Spekht the third Russian Dara DMITRIEVA was the best on second day with the highest scores with ball and ribbon and ranked on third place.
On fourth place came Neta RIVKIN from Israel, followed by Anna ALYABYEVA (KAZ) and Delphine LEDOUX from the French hosts.
Altogether 46 gymnasts are representing 24 different nations.
On Sunday Dara DIMITRIEVA won three of four finals, winner with hoop was Marina SPEKHT ...

Russia's Yevgeniya KANAEVA and Vera SESINA took gold in all the four rhythmic gymnastics individual events at the 5th World Cup competition in Pesaro, Italy.
Kanaeva, the 2008 Olympics champion won the rope, hoop and ball events (28,700, 29,000 and 28,000 points, respectively) while Vera Sesina had no rivals in the ribbon event (28,450 points). Kanaeva also took a silver medal in the ribbon event (28,425 points) while Sesina won the silver in the rope event (27,700 points) and the bronze in the hoop event (27,700 points).
It was the last test important before the Europeans in Baku in two weeks...

At the same weekend like the European Grand Prix in Holon the World Cup of Rhythmic Gymnastics held in Maribor, Slovenia.
Also there the Russian dominated this event:
After the the top position in all-around fourth placed at the Olympic final, Olga KAPRANOVA (RUS), won three of four apparatus finals, because she made a mistake with the hoop.
So Ljubov CHARKASHYNA used her chance and won the hope final.
Altogether 28 gymnasts representing 12 different nations took part art this world cup....

The Gymnastics Federation of Portugal and the City of Portimão organized the IV Portimão FIG World Cup Series Event of Rhythmic Gymnastics (groups) and the XXIII Portimão junior RG Tournament from April 16th to April 19th 2009 in Portimão, Portugal.
<< Olympic Champion Evgenia KANAEVA (111,850) won the individual all-around competition in front of Vera SESINA (110,550; both Russia), followed by the 2007 world champion Anna BESSONOVA (108,650) from Ukraine.
BELARUS won the groups all-around decision in front of Spain and Russia and the hopes final, but the JAPANESE GROUP wins the final with 2 ropes/3 ribbons, and Kanaewa three of four event finals...!

What was already known by the European Gymnastics Union (UEG) was now comfirmened also by the German Gymnastics Ferderation (DTB):
The European Championship of Rythmic Gymnastics in 2010 will be held in Germany. The planed location is the "AWD-DOME" in Bremen, the former townhall. Already in 2000 the 24th Gymnastic European championships took place in this location.
In the pre-Olympic year 2011 the UEG has chosen with Berlin another German location for the Artistic Gymnastic Europeans the following year ...

* USA Gymnastics announced, that Irina Gabashvili of Tigard (USA) - a former World Rhythmic Gymnastics Champion - who has coached in the United States since 2000, died on March 24 at age 48 after a five-year battle with cancer.
“Irina was a valued member of the Rhythmic Gymnastics community, and she will be missed,” said Caroline Hunt, Rhythmic Gymnastics programme director for USA Gymnastics.
“Irina was known for both her elegance and grace, and she put up a gallant struggle in her battle with cancer. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this difficult time.”

At the 3rd Brussels Cup in Rhythmic Gymnastics at the weekend, Anika REJEK (< photo, left) of Leverkusen, Germany, came second behind the Russian gymnast Anna EPIFANOVA (88.250). With a total score of 87.225 she clearly beat Belgian local favourite Lieselotte DIELS into 3rd place (84.200).
In the apparatus finals on Sunday Epifanova triumphed with the rope and hoop, Diels won with the ball and Anika Rejek was victorious in the ribbon final, the last discipline.
In the three-piece competition (rope, hoop and ball) in the junior category, victory went to Evgenia Vensko (60.980). Maria BUROWA from Leverkusen also took second place (54.625).

Joint training camps have a long tradition and are an expression of the good relations between German Rhythmic Gymnastics and the top nation, Russia.
Over the past ten years the graceful Russian gymnasts have won nearly all the Junior European championship titles, except for one painful defeat, when they came 'only' second behind Belarus - and that at home in Moscow (2005) of all places.
