British Gymnastics appoint Fast Track to find
it sponsors

appointed Fast Track to find a lead sponsor for the sport in the
build-up to the London 2012 Olympics and 2014 Commonweatlh Games
in Glasgow and capitalise on the success of the likes of world
champion Beth Tweddle and Olympic bronze medallist Louis Smith,

Ukraine, Sasaki Win Doha Gymnasiade

Ukraine claimed the team victory while Sergio Sasaki (Brazil) won
the all-around title at the Doha Gymnasiade, which began Tuesday
in Qatar. Fifteen-year-old Oleg Stepko led Ukraine to victory over

Lu Shanzhen: Cheng Fei Can Return

Chinese women's coach Lu Shanzhen said he hopes injured star Cheng
Fei can extend her career to a third Olympic Games. The
21-year-old Cheng underwent surgery after tearing her ACL at the
11th National Games in September. Several top gymnasts, including
Li Shanshan and Xiao Sha, officially retired following the

Gymnastics chief executive

who has overseen the most successful period in the sport's history
in this country, is to step down as chief executive of British
Gymnastics, it has been revealed. He is to take early retirement
at the end of this month to concentrate on his role as an
Executive member of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG),

Young champions set for Doha Gymnasiade

sport, Doha is set to host the 14th edition of the Gymnasiade,
which kicks off at the award-winning Aspire Zone on Monday. The
event will see 1,112 athletes from 42 countries compete in a total

Academy's Cassie Whitcomb and Amanda Jetter won the senior and
junior all-around titles at the 14th annual Pas-de-Calais
International meet held this weekend in Arques, France. Whitcomb,
eighth at the 2009 U.S. Championships, hit all four apparatuses to
defeat second-place finisher Wyomi Masela of the Netherlands.

Records tumble at Doha Gymnasiade

Gymnasiade 2009 saw 11 ISF world records broken in 12 swimming
events, with Russia, France, Italy, Spain and Ukraine among the
leading medal winners, at the end of day 3. Winners were also
declared in over 15 events, across all categories, including

IOC approves cycling changes, tennis mixed
doubles

Olympic leaders made two
roster changes Thursday for the 2012 London Games: Track cycling's
signature endurance race is out and tennis mixed doubles is in.The
International Olympic Committee executive board agreed to a
program of five men's and five women's track cycling events as
part of a plan proposed by cycling's governing body. As a result,
the Olympics will lose track cycling's 4,000-meter individual
pursuit for men and 3,000-meter pursuit for women. >>

Rogge: London venue changes are done deal
December 10, 2009

The wrangling over the
change in venue for two sports at the 2012 London Olympics is "not
an issue any more" and the move should be finalized in a month or
two, IOC president Jacques Rogge said Thursday. Rogge and the
International Olympic Committee's executive board received a
general progress update from Sebastian Coe, head of London's
organizing committee.

Anger over 2012 badminton 'backtrack'
December 10, 2009 (BBC):
International gymnastics chiefs have accused London 2012 of going
back on a key bid promise to the athletes by moving some Olympic
events to Wembley Arena. London organisers are struggling to
persuade badminton and rhythmic gymnastics to sign up to Wembley
because of the travelling time from the athletes' village in east
London. It was originally hoped that a deal would be struck about
Wembley at this week's International Olympic Committee executive
board meeting in Lausanne. But both badminton and gymnastics
chiefs are not happy and are unlikely to make a decision for
another two months. In an interview with BBC London, Gueisbuhler
stressed that talks with London organisers were going well and he
praised the initiatives.

IOC considers new members: Prince Feisal of
Jordan on the list

The IOC has put forth
the names of six potential new members to its 112 strong assembly
that will be voted on at the Vancouver session in February. This
will take place prior to the opening of the winter Games. At the
top of the list is Prince Feisal of Jordan, leader of the
groundbreaking Generations For Peace humanitarian organization and
president of the NOC of Jordan, his sister, Princess Haya, is also
IOC member and president of the FEI international equestrian
federation.

Contenders for BBC Sports Personality award
revealed

The BBC Sports
Personality of the Year top-10 shortlist has been revealed. It
features Formula One champion Jenson Button, cycling star Mark
Cavendish, world champion diver Tom Daley and Manchester United
great Ryan Giggs. Athletics is represented by two more world
champions, heptathlete Jessica Ennis and triple jumper Phillips
Idowu. Heavyweight boxer David Haye, England cricket captain
Andrew Strauss, tennis ace Andy Murray and world gymnastics
champion Beth Tweddle make up the 10.

Sabine Spitz awarded Olympic Trophy for
anti-doping stance

the International Olympic Committee "Trophy 2009 for Sport and the
Fight against Doping" by the German Olympic committee, in honour
of her anti-doping stance. The award was made at the German
