2009 World Championships Drawing of Lots

The drawing of lots shows an overall stable participation from two years ago. There will be 366 entries from 33 countries at these World Championships to be held in St Petersburg, Russia, on November 11-14, 2009. Mustafina, Ryazanov Win Russian Cup Titles

August 26, 2009 (International Gymnast): National champions Aliya Mustafina and Yuri Ryazanov won all-around titles at the Russian Cup, held Wednesday in Penza. Mustafina, the top gymnast in Tuesday's qualification competition, improved her all-around score Wednesday to 59.434. Ryazanov (89.450) and runner-up Sergei Khorokhordin (89.250) repeated their rankings from Monday's qualification competition but both improved their all-around scores. Emin Garibov, the 2008 Junior European champion on high bar, placed third (85.850).

2009 Veliki-Novgorod World Cup and Volkov Cup

August 24, 2009 (Acrobatic Sports): The city of Veliki-Novgorod hosted this past week-end a World Cup event in acrobatic gymnastics, as well as the Volkov Cup.  Overall, more than 200 athletes from twelve countries competed.  The World Cup competition was open to the senior pairs and groups, whereas the Volkov Cup was open to the junior gymnasts.  Gymnasts from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, France, Germany, Israel, Kazakhstan, Portugal, and Russia competed in the World Cup. >> Read more …

August 23, 2009 (Acrobatic Sports): Lu Chunlong and Zhong Xingping were crowned at the 2009 Chinese National Championship Competition held in Jinzhong, Shanxi, on August 20-22, 2009. Brazil Olympics television rights sold for $210m

August 28, 2009 (Sport Business): Brazilian broadcasters TV Globo, Bendeirantes, and Rede Record have agreed a $210 million deal for the media rights for the 2014 and 2016 Olympics Summer Games. “This is an important announcement, not only for the IOC but for the Olympic movement as a whole,” said IOC president Jacques Rogge in a statement, as reported by newspaper USA Today.

Lima In Running For 2015 Pan American Games
