bounces back from Beijing injury

Samantha Peszek's "time off" after
the Beijing Olympics was no vacation. The gymnast had to let her
badly sprained ankle heal. She needed knee surgery. When she was
finally healthy, she had to work back into shape. Oh, throw in

Hartford to
host 2010 USA Gymnastics championships
July 29, 2009
(Associated Press): Hartford, Conn.,
will host the 2010 USA Gymnastics national championships.
Connecticut Gov. Jodi Rell made the announcement Wednesday along
with Steve Penny, the president and chief executive of USA
Gymnastics, and gymnastics coach Bela Karolyi.

Use Mini Olympics As Warm Up For Bangkok And Tokyo Meets

National gymnasts are expected to
use the Mini Olympics to tune up for two major championships this
year. Malaysian Gymnastics Federation (MGF) Honorary secretary N.
Shanmugarajah said national gymnasts would be competing in the
South East Asian Gymnastic Confederation (SEAGON) championships in
Bangkok and the World Championships in Tokyo, both held in

Win Chinese Championships
July 27, 2009
(International Gymnast): Guizhou
gymnasts Xiao Sha and Deng Shudi won the all-around titles at the
Chinese Gymnastics Championships, which concluded Sunday in
Xiantao. Xiao, an alternate to the Chinese women's gold
medal-winning team at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, defeated
Olympic team member Deng Linlin to take the all-around gold medal.
Huang Qiushuang, who won the all-around title at the Japan Cup on
July 18, won the bronze medal.

received a boost on Saturday with Beth Tweddle opening a brand new
training centre in Mullion. The Mullion Gymnastics Centre will
provide first-class training facilities for young people in the
local area. The centre was officially opened by Tweddle, the most

Boerne gymnasts receive top awards at Acrobatic
Gymnastics Freedom Cup
July 24, 2009 (The
Boerne Star): The Freedom Cup is
held every two years in conjunction with the USA Gymnastics
Acrobatic Gymnastics National Championships. It gives the USA
athletes a chance to compete at the international level within the
USA in preparation for other international competitions. Nearly
160 acrobatic gymnasts from Australia, Belgium, France, Germany,
Ireland, Monaco, the Netherlands, Portugal, Russia and the United
States were vying for gold medals. >>
