Medalists Headline Tokyo Cup

Olympic medalists are scheduled for this weekend's Japan Cup in
Tokyo, as international gymnastics returns to the host city of the
2011 World Championships. The Tokyo Cup, which features team and
all-around contests, is the first international gymnastics event
in the Japanese capital since the 1993 Tokyo Cup, an individual
event competition.

for the artistic gymnasts of the Windhoek region will start this
coming weekend with the Bank Windhoek Central Zone Championships.
This is the first qualifier for the NGF National Championships
which will take place later this year in Walvis Bay. The Bank
Windhoek Central Zone Championships will be hosted by Excelsior
Gymnastics Club and will take place on Friday and Saturday, 17 &
18 July 2009 in Hall B at the Windhoek Show Grounds. >>

Strong results in rhythmic
gymnastics lifted Russia past China and South Korea on Saturday to
top the World University Games medals standings. Following
victories in the individual all-round and group events, Russia won
six more titles to complete a clean sweep in rhythmic gymnastics,
and increased its total of gold medals to 26 at the end of the
penultimate day of the 12-day event in Belgrade. >>

korfball are among the air, land and water sports to kick off the
first day of The World Games in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, on Friday.
Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou marked the start of the 11-day event
Thursday night during the opening ceremony at the new Main Stadium

the Rings): China was a notable
no-show as the 8th World Games got underway in Kaohsiung, Taiwan
with its opening ceremony on Thursday. The 99-member Chinese
delegation boycotted the opening ceremony to protest Taiwan
president Ma Ying-jeou opening the Games. China considers Taiwan
to be a breakaway province and doesn’t recognize its government.

WADA at World Games
July 16, 2009 (WADA):
Starting on July 16, WADA is present
at the VIII World Games through its Independent Observer (IO) and
Athlete Outreach Programs.
Held in Kaohsiung, Chinese Taipei, until July 26, this edition of
the World Games gathers 4,500 athletes and delegates from nearly
100 countries. Thirty-seven sports are on the Games’ program.
This event is held every four years.
