la Swiss Cup
October 22, 2008 (STV-FSG): Avec la participation de paires de
Chine et de Corée du Sud, le tournoi international de gymnastique
artistique de la Swiss Cup du 2 novembre 2008 au Hallenstadion de
Zurich réunira douze équipes. La Roumaine Sandra Izbasa,
championne olympique du sol, et l’Allemand Fabian Hambüchen,
champion du monde et d’Europe à la barre fixe, sont les têtes
d’affiche de l’évènement. Ils rencontreront l’élite suisse
composée d’Ariella Kaeslin, cinquième de la finale olympique du
saut, Yasmin Zimmermann, vice championne suisse, Niki Böschenstein,

Butcher named gymnastics judge

World gymnastics body re-elects Grandi
president
HELSINKI
(FIN), October 19, 2008 (Associated Press):
Bruno Grandi was
re-elected as the International Gymnastics Federation president
Saturday for the next four years through the 2012 London Olympics.
The 74-year-old Italian will serve a fourth term, having led the
world governing body since 1996. He also has been a member of the
International Olympic Committee for eight years.

IG is on the scene at the Glasgow Grand Prix, where gymnasts from
eight countries led their events during Friday's qualifications at
Kelvin Hall in the Scottish city.
In the women's competition,
two-time Ukrainian Olympian Alina Kozich, 2008 German Olympic team
alternate Kim Bui and the Netherlands' Sanne Wevers each qualified
first on one event and notched a top-three qualifying score in a
second event. 2004 Olympic all-around finalist Aagje Vanwalleghem

Death of Ram Ruhee, IOC Honorary Member since
2007

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is greatly saddened to
learn of the death of Ram Ruhee, at the age of 81. Elected as an
IOC member in 1988, he was the founder and Secretary General of
the Mauritius National Olympic Committee since 1971 and a member
of the following Commissions: Olympic Solidarity (1989-2001),
Cultural (1995-1996), Coordination for the Sydney 2000 Olympic
Games (1994-2000), Women and Sport (2002-2007) and Sport for All
(2003-2007), before becoming an honorary member in 2007.

IOC awards 2014 & 2016 broadcast rights in
Italy

(IOC): The International Olympic
Committee (IOC) today announced an agreement with SKY Italia for
the broadcast rights within Italy for the Sochi 2014 Olympic
Winter Games and the Games of the XXXI Olympiad in 2016.
SKY Italia will also be
the IOC’s broadcast partner for the Vancouver 2010 and London 2012
Olympic Games. SKY Italia, Italy’s leading digital satellite
television network, acquired the rights across all broadcast
platforms, including free-to-air television, subscription
television, internet and mobile phone. >>

TV deals insulate US Olympic Committee from
money woes
ORLANDO (USA),

U.S. leaders in the Olympic movement aren't as
worried about their future as some others in the sports world.
It doesn't hurt that the
U.S. Olympic Committee and Olympic sports have most of their key
deals — including the NBC television contract worth more than $2
billion (€1.5 billion) — secured through the 2010 and 2012 Games.
