Decision about age of Chinese gymnasts Yang and
Dong expected soon

(Examiner): Were Chinese gymnasts
Yang Yun and Dong Fanxiao too young to compete at the 2000
Olympics? And if they were, what should be done about it? The
International Gymnastics Federation's (FIG) executive committee is
expected to issue a ruling today on whether Yang and Dong were old
enough to compete at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.

Lee Wan Nin can still walk tall although she failed to make the
cut as one of the three Asian representatives for the Olympic
Youth Games in Singapore. The petite 15-year-old can be proud
after achieving a breakthrough in the recent Moscow Grand Prix
when she nailed two silver medals in the ball and clubs apparatus
respectively.

Namibia will host the 10th Junior and Senior
African Gymnastics Championships and the African Continental Games
qualifiers for the 2010 Youth Olympics in Walvis Bay from 28
February 28 to 13 March. The countries that have already confirmed
their participation are South Africa, Angola, Zimbabwe, Botswana,
Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique, Algeria, Tunisia, Senegal, Egypt,
Libya, Ethiopia, Morocco and Cape Verde, as well as the hosts,

Charlie Tamayo: 'I had to trade my family for
the chance at a better future'

standing double back. He can do a double twisting double back and
a laid-out Arabian double front. He can do a quintuple front --
five full somersaults -- into a foam pit from a trampoline. What
he can't do is compete for the Team USA, despite having lived in
the United States for the past seven years. But even as a
competitor without a country, Tamayo, 29, has not given up on his
Olympic dream. >

Chris Brooks added to American Cup lineup

Chris Brooks has been added to the 2010 American Cup lineup,
replacing Tim McNeill,
USA Gymnastics announced Tuesday. McNeill, who finished
second all-around at the 2009 U.S. Championships and seventh
all-around at the World Championships, underwent a procedure to
burn the nerves in three of his vertebrae on Feb. 1, he told
Examiner.com in an

Olympian Jessica Lopez and American Chris Brooks have been added
to the lineup for the upcoming Tyson American Cup. Brooks, who won
the recent U.S. Winter Cup, joins former Oklahoma teammate
Jonathan Horton in representing the American men at the event,

Johnson injures knee while skiing
February 22, 2010
(Associated Press): Olympic
gold medalist Shawn Johnson will be in a leg brace for six weeks
and her training will be limited for six months after surgery on
her left knee following a ski accident in Colorado. Johnson's
agent, Sheryl Shade, said Monday that Johnson tore her left ACL
last month during a family vacation. Johnson has begun physical

doping tests during the Vancouver Olympics is proof the Games are
gradually getting rid of cheats who have fewer places to hide, the
International Olympic Committee’s medical chief said on Monday.
The Vancouver Olympics have had no positive doping tests since the
Games opened on Feb. 12, with more than two thirds of the 2,100
