Hairi wants to be better than Shu Wai

artistic gymnast Hairi Zaid has declared that he wants to be
better than Ng Shu Wai. After 10 years of hard work, true grit and
sacrifices, the 20-year-old Hairi is waiting for the big breaks to
strut his stuff. Just five months after joining the (Malaysian)
national team, he gave indication of his ability to become the
country’s star gymnast.

Shatilov Inspired by 'Athlete of the Year'
Award

Shatilov told IG that being named Israel's Male Athlete of the
Year for 2009 gives him a higher profile and more motivation for
competitions in 2010.
"It's the first time a gymnast won the prize, and it was really
nice that I personally received it," said Shatilov, who at last
fall's world championships in London became the first Israeli
gymnast to win a world medal when he placed third on floor

Baku championship

gymnastics has ended at the Olympic Sport Complex in Baku. The

Coach happy with positive attitude displayed by
gymnasts
February 7, 2010 (The
Star online): Despite the
shortcomings, the positive attitude displayed by the men artistic
gymnasts during training has brought the smiles to national chief
coach Pavel Todorov.
Bulgarian Todorov said that there was better commitment in
training from the senior and back-up gymnasts since the squad
moved their training base from Cheras to the newly built building
at the Gymnasium 2 in Bukit Jalil.

Horton to take the U.S. Winter Cup all-around title Saturday in
Las Vegas. Brooks edged his former Oklahoma teammate

Sport Complex last week. This internationally approved apparatus
is part of the ongoing support of the municipality towards the

Zimbabwe/Morocco: Morocco to Host Anoca Games
February 12, 2010
(All Africa):
Zimbabwe and other African
countries have been presented with an opportunity to prepare their
teams for the inaugural Youth Olympic Games set for Singapore in
August this year by fine tuning their athletes at the first
edition of the Africa Youth Games.
Morocco is set to host the Anoca Games for athletes aged between
15 and 17 years from May 9 to 15.

Nanjing wins hosting right for 2nd Youth
Olympics
February 10, 2010 (Xinhua):
Nanjing of China won the hosting
right for the second Summer Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in 2014 here
on Wednesday. Nanjing won the vote by a narrow margin 47-42 over
the only other candidate city Poznan of Poland. The result was
announced by International Olympic Committee president Jacques
Rogge at the 122nd IOC session in Vancouver.
