Youth Olympic wildcard for Solomons
November 18, 2009 (Namibia
Sport): The
first ever Youth Olympic Games will be held in August 2010 in
Singapore and a young trampoline star from Walvis Bay will
represent Namibia with the universality place in trampoline.
Michel’le Solomons, was chosen by the National Olympic Committee
to compete in the trampoline section of the Youth Olympic Games.

Double helpings of international
aerobic gymnastics for the Azores
November 18, 2009 (Acores):
The
1st FIG Aerobic Gymnastic World Cup and the
International Open of Aerobic Gymnastics of the Azores will both
take place in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel, between April 28 and May
3, 2010. Ponta Delgada has made its
Coliseu Micaelense - the city's largest theatre -
available for the event. This is the first time the Azorean
capital stages a part of the World Cup, which is aimed at senior

Day 1
November 18, 2009 (Acrobatic
Sports): The
19th World Age Group Competition (WAGC) in trampoline, tumbling,
and double mini-trampoline (DMT) kicked off today at the
Sports-Concert Complex in St Petersburg, Russia. Today's events
saw Russia claim three gold medals, whereas France secured two
gold medals. The other gold medal winners of the day were coming
from New Zealand, Canada, and the U.S. Dylan Schmidt (NZL) and Lea
Labrousse (FRA) won the 11-12 age group trampoline titles. >

Honiball excels in SA Cup

Sport):
Namibia’s top male gymnast Robert Honiball excelled at the SA Cup
international gymnastics competition in Centurion, South Africa by
winning five medals and finishing second overall. Honiball was
Namibia’s sole representative at the competition which saw
gymnasts from the host nation South Africa, Great Britain,
Malaysia, New Zealand and Romania also in action.

Times): Kuwait
welcomed as a national hero gymnast Nour Al-Usta who won three
gold medals in the individual competitions of the Arab
championship for rhythmic gymnastics in Syria. Sheikha Naeema
Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah headed the delegation which welcomed the gymnast

Le 26ème championnat du Monde de trampoline,
tumbling et double-mini trampoline à St Petersbourg s'est achevé
samedi 14. Les équipes asiatiques maintiennent leur hégémonie sur
le trampoline: en individuel, Dong Dong et Huang Shanshan (CHN)
remportent leur premier titre tout comme la paire Li-Zhong dorée
en trampoline synchronisé dames tandis que Ueyama-Sotomura (JPN)
conservent leur couronne chez les hommes. Doublé chinois en
trampoline par équipes, le 3ème consécutif. Victoires à domicile
de Tagir Murtazaev et Anna Korobeynikova (RUS) en tumbling,
victoire russe en tumbling féminin par équipes et chinoise chez
les hommes. André Lico (POR) et Victoria Voronina (RUS)

Toronto native captures bronze in
trampoline

Karen Cockburn
of Toronto won one of three Canadian bronze medals claimed
Saturday, the final day of competition at the world trampoline and
tumbling championships in St. Petersburg, Russia. Cockburn,
competing at her eighth world championships, was third in the
women's individual trampoline competition, a result equaled by
Ashley Speed of Toronto in women's tumbling and Corissa Boychuk of

Hire Russian Coach

rhythmic gymnastics team is getting a boost in its coaching staff,
thanks to the planned introduction of a new Russian coach. The
Korea Gymnastics Association (KGA) announced they will be hiring a

Championships in Quebec, Canada, he knew that finishing in the top
16 would secure him a place in the Beijing Olympics. He performed

Retroactive testing nabs gold
medalist

Fifteen months after the Beijing Olympics, Bahraini
middle-distance runner Rashid Ramzi was stripped of his
1,500-meter gold medal Wednesday and four other athletes were
disqualified because of doping at the games. The International
Olympic Committee took action against the five athletes who tested
positive in April in retroactive tests for CERA, an advanced
version of the blood-boosting drug EPO. >

Doping tests
to target 1,500 athletes at 2010 Asian Games
November 16, 2009 (Kuwait
News Agency):
Doping control measures at the 16th Asian Games in 2010 in the
southern Chinese city of Guangzhou will involve 1,500 athletes,
the organizer said Monday. The samples of the tests would be
analyzed by the China Anti-Doping Agency in Beijing, and negative
results would be available after 24 hours, positive results after
48 hours and EPO test results after 72 hours, the Guangzhou Asian
Games Organizing Committee said in a press release. >>
