Gymnastics awards 2009 Visa Championships to Dallas
INDIANAPOLIS (USA), October 9, 2008 (USA
Gymnastics):
USA Gymnastics has awarded the 2009 Visa Championships to Dallas,
marking two firsts for the prestigious event: not only is this the
event’s first visit to Dallas, but it is also the first time the
event has featured all five of USA Gymnastics’ competitive
disciplines – men’s and women’s gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics,
trampoline and tumbling, and acrobatic gymnastics.
Scheduled for Aug. 12-15, American Airlines Center
will play host to men’s and women’s gymnastics, with the Dallas
Convention Center holding the rhythmic and acrobatic gymnastics
and trampoline and tumbling

authorities checking IDs of gymnasts, too
BEIJING (CHN), October 7, 2008 (The Associated
Press):
International gymnastics officials aren't the only ones who want
more information on two members of China's 2000 Olympic team.
The Chinese
Gymnastics Association is doing its own investigation into the
ages of Dong Fangxiao and Yang Yun, spokeswoman Zhou Qiurui said
Tuesday. New information suggests the two could have been as young
as 14 at the Sydney Olympics, where China won the bronze medal.

All six members of the Chinese women’s gymnastics team at the
Beijing Games were old enough to compete, officials from the
International Gymnastics Federation said Wednesday after a
monthlong investigation into possible age falsification by the
team.
Still, the federation’s inquiry into
under-age gymnasts will continue: two members of China’s squad
from the 2000 Olympics — Dong Fangxiao and Yang Yun — are being

IOC to Further Analyse Beijing 2008
Samples

The IOC intends to further analyse the samples collected this
summer during the Olympic Games in Beijing. Substances that will
be analysed across all sports include EPO CERA.
All samples are currently being
repatriated to the WADA-accredited laboratory in Lausanne where
Olympic samples are usually stored after the Games. The details of
the procedure, such as the number of samples to be further
analysed and the timeline, are currently being discussed with

Athlete Career Programme

advantage of the IOC Athlete Career Programme, offered in
collaboration with Adecco. The programme delivered career
development training and job placements, facilitating the
integration of athletes into the labour market both during and at
