Olympic television gathers for summit! Gymnastique - Stage international à Thiès 6 mai 2009 (Le Soleil): La Fédération sénégalaise de gymnastique (FSG) organise du 8 au 16 mai, au centre international sis au Cneps de Thiès, un stage international de formation de gymnastique pour tous ceux qui devraient contribuer à développer cette discipline qui n’existe pas encore au Sénégal. Mexican Gymnastics Frustrated by Flu Crisis May 5, 2009 (International Gymnast): As Mexico celebrated Cinco de Mayo on Tuesday, its gymnastics program remained disrupted along with the rest of the nation by the ongoing flu crisis. UN commends Generations for Peace initiative May 8, 2009 (Sport Business International): UN Special Adviser Wilfried Lemke has congratulated the Generations for Peace initiative for its work, during the IOC’s International Form on Sport, Peace and Development. Madrid Could Host Olympic Games In 2012 - Coghen May 7, 2009 (The Sport Briefing): Madrid 2016 chief executive Mercedes Coghen has stated that the city is so advanced in its plans that it could even host the Olympic Games in 2012. The International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Evaluation Commission has this week begun its visit to the Spanish capital as it outlines its claims to host the 2016 Games over those of Chicago, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo. “Collectively, we are so well-advanced in our plans that Madrid could readily host the Games in 2012, as well as 2016,” said Coghen.  >> Read more … and see also Sportcal
IOC completes Rio 2016 inspection May 5, 2009 (International Sport Business): The IOC’s evaluation commission completed its final tour of Rio de Janeiro before deciding on the host of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games, saying it was impressed with the strength of the bid. “Everything we have seen so far is positive,” said the commission’s chairwoman, Nawal el-Moutawakel, according to report in the International Herald Tribune newspaper.  >> Read more …
