Individual women There are clear favourites also among the women, it is the title defender, and also World Champion in 1998: Yuriko Ito from Japan. She has already won the Suzuki-Cup in her home country this year. |

She displays true fireworks on the aerobics
stages, agile, with a good technique, she embodies the temperament that
has equally convinced both the spectators as well as the judges.
The 31-year-old Japanese from Nagoya, however, will face fierce competition – first and foremost the No 2 at the 1999 World Championships, Isabel Lacatus from Romania, who won both of this year’s World Cup tournaments. Isamara Secati from Brazil and the Italian Giovanna Lecis are also candidates for medals at the Riesa competition. Not to forget the German Champion Janka Daubner (SV Halle), whose best result this so far this season was 4th place at the World Cup tournament in Halle. The second German entrant, Sandra Schlüter (SV Halle), should also be able to reach the finals.

Trios
The trios should be the most exciting event, as in the previous year. Title defender Admilson Vitorio, Ibsen Nogueira and Rodrigo Martins from Brazil, who just barely beat the French team of Gregory Alcan, Xavier Julien, Olivier Salvan in 1999 (same number of points, the technique decided). The Brazilians from Timoteo and Sao Paulo, with their original idea of aerobics full of movement, were applauded even during the performance for their spectacular lifting figures – the French love the show and they are more or less always the favourites of the spectators. ... They, in turn, duelled with the Romanian trio Remus / Moldovan / Mois during this years World Cup tournaments – it seems like these three trios are going to fight for the medals this time round. Whether the Koreans are going to enter their fourth-ranked team of last year’s World Championships is still, open. In this men’s domain, the Bulgarian trio of Damentrio Lazarova / Kovatcheva / Dotzeva stand a good chance. The German Champion trio from Berlin Jana Radtke, Dana Schröter and Mandy Skroch (TSV Tempelhof-Mariendorf) may reach the finals if they are in their best form.
