After
the qualification of the women has been over, Germany’s head coach Petra
Theiss is happy with the results of her gymnasts. Yvonne Musik presented a solid
competition and after a break due to injury Birgit Schweigert started again
with a brilliant routine on uneven bars. According to Petra Theiss,
especially from Birgit Schweigert a lot can be expected in tomorrow’s
final: “If she presents another routine like this, everything is possible!” However, for the upcoming European championships the
situation is not easy at the moment for Germany’ head coach of the
women’s team. It seems to be certain that Berlin’s Katja Abel and Lisa
Brüggemann from Cologne won’t be able to compete due to injuries. Only
after a 2nd qualification it will be decided if a women’s
senior team will be sent to Patras at all. *** The
long-year participant in the competition “Turnier der Meister” Oksana
Tschussovitina also this year is satisfied with her performance in the qualification and
is looking forward to competing in the finals. Her routines hadn’t been
perfect today but as she has arrived in Cottbus with a back injury and
couldn’t train properly before, the results are okay. However, she
doesn’t want to say anything about her chances for the finals at the
weekend. According to her, tomorrow is a new day and everything is possible… *** After her job has been done, Verona
van de Leur and Susanne Harmes from the
Netherlands relax sitting in the audience and watching the routines of the
men. Verona is not totally happy with her performance in the qualification,
according to her there had been a few mistakes. – Luckily she has reached
three finals, which gives her three more chances to present faultless
routines! Fellow gymnast Susanne Harmes
is happy about taking part in her first World Cup and also with her
performance in the qualification. Especially on her favourite apparatus
floor she has shown a brilliant routine. Like Verona, she will take part in
three finals. |
