The German organizers of the International ZAG Junior Cup announce that the 8th edition of this traditional competition is now firmly scheduled and planned for the June 18th -19th 2022.
Despite the problems caused by Corona, the first German Premier League (Bundesliga) club TuS Vinnhorst, as host, decided in coordination with the Lower Saxony Gymnastics Association (NTB) to hold the competition again this year. 10 teams from abroad are expected, e.g. from the Ukraine, Netherlands, France and they meet top talents from Germany and of course from the hosts of Lower Saxony. Five weeks before the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia, this is a great opportunity for many international guests to test their programs.
A corresponding hygiene concept is being worked on by the organizers and will be adapted accordingly in view of the current situation, including possible short-term changes/cancellations by the participants.
* Jörg Niebuhr from the ZAG Organizing Commizzee informed: -- "It will certainly be difficult, especially for foreign gymnasts, to plan participation, because due to the corona pandemic, you don't know exactly what is allowed at the time. But in order to minimize the financial risk for the participants, participation can be canceled free of charge at short notice and the reserved hotel rooms in the Hotel Plaza at the main train station can also be canceled free of charge up to one day before arrival.
This year, for the first time, an apparatus final is to be held in all age groups, so that there are not only trophies and prize money for the best teams, but also many medals for the individual gymnasts to win. Even if there may still be changes due to Corona as long as the apparatus finals are possible, there will definitely be winners and places in every age group on all apparatus.
Therefore, we hope that under these conditions some top young gymnasts from Germany and maybe even a few foreign teams will be at the start to compete for theirs to offer talented boys a start in an international competition. The fact that we have always had a small and manageable event now benefits us. This makes it possible to hold a competition even under corona conditions. Each team will have their own space for warming up and then go from device to device individually. And it has always been the case that a team with all gymnasts (no matter what age group) does gymnastics together on each piece of apparatus. So contact with other gymnasts/coaches can be avoided entirely.”
(!!) - The special "Corona reporting conditions" described above initially only allow a "non-binding registration".
But this is urgently needed (!), because especially in these times it is important to be able to plan and, if necessary, limit the number of participants.

But of course it is currently not possible to say exactly what will actually apply in June.
"We thank you for your understanding and hope for a nice competition!"
