26th Trampoline World Age Group Competitions 2018

Following the 33rd TRAMPOLINE World Championships 2018 in Saint Petersburg from 15 to 18 November, took place the so-called "World Age Group Competitions" (WAGC) in the trampoline disciplines, which are something like the Junior World Championships and already have a 26-year tradition:
About 850 young athletes from 42 different countries and representing six continents came to fight for a total of 32 medal sets in the Tramnpoline individual and synchronised, on the double minitramp and on the tumbling track. They are divided into the age groups 11/12 years, 13/14 years, 15/16 years and the junior category 17/21 years. Here, too, host Russia was the favored nation again and, with 81 competitors alone, has the not only the largest number of participants, but also the most succussful nation ...:

Russia dominated 2018 Trampoline World Age Group Competitions

♦♦♦ 10 titles for host Russians
With 34 medals, host nation Russia dominated the 26th FIG Trampoline Gymnastics World Age Group Competitions held 15-18 November in Saint Petersburg (RUS). The host nation landed on the podium in 23 of the 32 events, winning 10 gold medals. Victories included Anzhela Bladtceva (13-14) and Daria Nazukova (15-16) in women’s Individual Trampoline and Dmitrii Zenkin (17-21) in men’s Individual. Women’s Synchro pairs Daria Nazukova and Ekaterina Fetkulina (15-16) and Meri Golota and Vera Beliankina (17-21) were also in sync for gold.
Russia also picked up two girls’ Tumbling titles from Elina Stepanova (15-16) and Svetlana Skorokhod (13-14), and three titles in boys’ Double Mini from Boris Egorov (17-21), Aleksandr Butko (13-14) and Ilya Khalilov (11-12).

♦♦ British nab six golds
Great Britain, which won six golds and four silvers, lived up to their reputation in the Tumbling events, winning half the titles. Mason Tudgay (11-12), Jack Leahy (15-16), and Jaydon Paddock (17-21) tumbled their way to gold in the mens’ events, while Megan Surman (17-21) was golden for the women.
Scarlett Fletcher (11-12) won gold for Britain in the Double Mini girls event.In women’s Individual Trampoline, Louise Brownsey won gold in 17-21 final over Ukrainian-born Maria Zakharchuk (RUS), the bronze medallist at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing.

♦ Belarus bounces to five golds
Russia’s neighbour Belarus bounced to 12 medals, including five golds. The Belarusians proved their future looks bright in Individual Trampoline, where Daniil Valyntsau and Matsvei Arlou finished 1-2 in the boys’ 15-16 age group and Stanislau Yaskevich and Andrei Builou finished 1-2 in the 13-14 age group. Maryia Siarheyeva (11-12) won gold the girls’ event. Belarus also picked up gold medals in Synchro from girls’ pair Aliaksandra Staliarova and Zlata Shalkouskaya (13-14) and boys’ pair Andrei Builou and Sebastsyan Stankevich (15-16).

♦ Japan, USA impress as 15 nations win medals
Japan, which will play host to the 2019 World Championships/World Age Group Competitions and the 2020 Olympic Games, claimed three Trampoline titles. Mens’ Synchro pairs Hiroto Unno and Toma Miyano (17-21) and Taiga Akaishi and Yusei Matsumoto (11-12) won gold, while Matsumoto won the 11-12 age group in boys’ Individual Trampoline. With the second-largest delegation in Saint Petersburg, the Americans grabbed nine medals, including four gold medals. The USA won two Double Mini titles for women thanks to golden passes from Kayttie Nakamura (15-16) and Shelby Nobuhara (13-14), and girls’ Synchro pair Ksenia Karpushkina and Logan McCoy (11-12) and boys Synchro pair Tomas Minc and Ryan MacCagnan (13-14).

The Australian women claimed two golds from Cheyanna Robinson (17-21) in Double Mini and Tamia Fonua (11-12) in Tumbling.

Lucas Santos (15-16) struck gold for Portugal in the boys’ Double Mini event. Axel Duriez, the bronze medallist in the boys’ Tumbling 11-12 age group at the 2017 World Age Group Competitions, moved up to first place in Saint Petersburg to bring France its only gold of the competition.
