Welcoming adresses...
In their welcoming addresses, Ms Carole Delamuraz, Head of Communication at the Olympic Museum, and Mr Kelly Fairweather, Director of Sports for the International Olympic Committee, both recalled the important role of the FIG, the oldest of international sport federations, in the development of the Olympic Movement.
FIG President, Professor Bruno Grandi took the opportunity to emphasise the Federation's responsibility in terms of education, pedagogy and health, and affirmed that high level gymnastics is the mere tip of an iceberg that makes up the Federation's activity, historically geared towards gymnastics everywhere and for everyone.
The 125th Anniversary of the FIG will take place at Geneva's Palexpo, starting October 26, and will offer symposiums, colloquiums and the statutory FIG General Assembly. Highlight of the jubilee?
A prestigious Gala set for Monday, October 30 at the Arena, which will present an impressive line-up of Olympic and World champions from the FIG's six competitive disciplines, along with Cirque du Soleil artists specifically brought in for the occasion.
