2005 British Women’s ChampionshipsBeth Tweddle with total triumph!

Beth Tweddle wins all titles at British Nationals!

Beth Tweddle (Liverpool) won her fifth consecutive British senior national title (36,700) at the British Women's Championships, held Saturday in Guildford, Great Britain.
On second place came Samantha Bayley (Welsh Inst. Sport; 35.700), followed by Imogen Cairns (The Academy; 35.050).
Tweddle was also absolutly the best gymnast at the Sunday's apparatus final events and won all the four national titles.
One month ago, at the 2005 European Championships in Debrecen, Tweddle was forced to withdraw from the competition when she slipped off the uneven bars during the all-around and suffered a shock.

baga -- The victory of the GB Team over China in Liverpool, on 25/26 June 2005, boosted the confidence of the country’s best gymnasts at the beginning of the road leading to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
All seven gymnasts who achieved this success (Beth Tweddle -Liverpool), Samantha Bayley - unattached), Imogen Cairns - The Academy, Rhian Pugh - Bristol Hawks, Melanie Roberts - Liverpool, Rosalie Hutton - Pipers Vale and Helen Galashan, Reserve - Liverpool), will take part in the 2005 British Championships in Guildford, 8th/10th July....
The competition in 'The Spectrum', Guildford will crown the best Senior, Junior and Espoir gymnasts from all over the country and will put on display the emerging new generation of young talents.
The expected highlight of the Championships will be Beth Tweddle’s attempt to win her fifth British Senior All-around title!
The 20-year-old from Liverpool will come fresh from her stunning success in the meet against China -Gold medals in the Overall, Team, Vault, A. Bars and Floor (in a tie with Fan Ye).
All this happened only 20 days after Beth’s ordeal in Debrecen (HUN), where she was 1st on Floor and A.Bars and 2nd in the Overall in the Qualifications of the European Championships 2005, but fell from the uneven bars during the warm-up of competition 2 and spent a day in hospital returning in a neck collar. Amanda Kirby, Beth’s personal coach commented on the website of British Gymnastics Federation:
'“For Beth it is getting tougher and tougher to win, because everybody is chasing her and improving very quickly.
Before she went on the Beam, her first apparatus today, she said: I’d rather be at the Europeans…
Then I took the hard end and replied: You are at the British and you’d better get on with this!
Beth started with a big wobble on Beam, but then recovered quickly and handled the situation brilliantly. Her performances on the other three apparatus were excellent!
What comes next? A week off and then building up for the World Student Games in August in Turkey.”
