According to the FIG president, the Interantional Gymnastics Federation has no new information about the positive drug tests concerning two gymnasts at the Goodwill Games. Grandi is not willing to disclose any further information on discipline, names of athletes or the countries they are from as long as the B sample has not been analyzed. This is expected for the next week, the athletes concerned may officially comment until November 15.

Grandi spoke of five positive drug tests over the last ten years. "I don't think we have a doping problem in gymnastics but I cannot guarantee that there will be no further cases in the future. But I can guarantee that the FIG fights ruthlessly against any form of drug abuse."

FIG vice president Michel Leglise added that "there have been 14 drug tests at these World Championships so far. All of them were negative." Andreea Raducan was one of the athletes tested yesterday. Raducan had been in the news because she had to give back her all-around gold medal after testing positive for a banned substance." (gymmedia)

Nach Auskunft des FIG-Präsidenten Grandi liegen dem Turnweltverband keine neuen Informationen über die "2 positiven Befunde" (A-Probe) bei den Goodwill Games. Grandi ist zum gegenwärtigen Zeitpunkt nicht bereit, nähere Auskünfte zu erteilen, weder über die betroffene Sportart, noch die Athleten oder deren Länder, bevor nicht die B-Probe analysiert wurde, mit der man im Laufe der nächsten Woche rechne. Dann haben die Betroffenen bis zum 15. November Zeit zu einer Stellungnahme.
Grandi erwähnte bislang 5 positive Dopingfälle in den letzten 10 Jahren: "Ich glaube nicht, dass wir bei der FIG ein Dopingproblem haben, allerdings kann ich auch keine Garantie für eventuelle künftige Fälle geben. Aber ich versichere, dass die FIG einen entschieden Kampf gegen jegliche Erscheinungen dieser Art führen wird."
FIG-Vize-Präsident Michel Legliese ergänzte, "...dass es bis zum gegenwärtigen Zeitpunkt dieser WM insgesamt 14 Kontrollen gegeben habe, die alle negativ waren." Gestern war auch  Andreea Raducan unter den Getesteten, die in Sydney durch die Verabreichung eines unerlaubten Mittels in die Schlagzeilen geraten war und ihr daraufhin das Mehrkampfgold aberkannt wurde.
