FIG TRAMPOLINE WORLD CUP 2001 / 2002
- Greensboro (USA), August 24

Toronto’s Karen Cockburn (CAN) wins World Cup gold
GREENSBORO, North Carolina- Karen Cockburn of Toronto (CAN) earned her first career victory on the World Cup trampoline and tumbling circuit this weekend and added a silver with partner Heather Ross-McManus of Ottawa on synchronized trampoline.

In women’s individual trampoline, Cockburn, the Olympic bronze medallist in Sydney, totalled 40.20 points for the gold. She upset Olympic champion Irina Karavaeva of Russia who settled for silver. Natalia Chernova of Russia was third.

It was the second World Cup medal this season in the event for Cockburn, who also has two fourth place finishes.

In synchronized trampoline, Claire Wright and Kirsten Lawton of Britain were the winners. Cockburn and Ross-McManus, new partners this season, captured their third consecutive World Cup silver while Galina Lebedeva and Tatiana Piatrenia of Belarus were third.

Both Cockburn and Ross-McManus qualified to compete at the World Cup final later this year in Hanover (Germany).

November 2002 in Hannover stattfindende World-Cup Finale qualifizieren.
