23th November:
Favourites leading after the first day of competition

Before a rather dissapointing background, the first qualificational competitions of the European Championships took place. The local champion Jonathan Canada did not leave any doubts about who would be the "chief" of the men: with 19,200 points he left the rest far behind him. According to the new rules, two athletes per country can compete in one final competition now - which was bad luck for the German Julian Drescher, who achieved the 9th rank with only 0,10 points less than the second Romanian Remus Nicolai. Apart from that there were no surprises concerning the finalists -  except the Italian Giacomo Piccoli.

The final of the mixed pairs will be full of excitement: The World Champions Tatiana Soloviova / Vladislav Oskner "only" achieved the third rank today, behind the very ambitious Romanians Isabela Lacatus / Remus Nicolai and the French Muller / Brecard. There is another French pair in the final.

The Romanian women, the favourites, dominated the teams as well. They are followed by France and Russia and by the German team. Two Italian teams are in the final.
