Mattie Larson of Los Angeles, Calif., won the senior all-around competition at the 2010 CoverGirl Classic at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, Ill..
In the junior session earlier at Saturday, July 24, 2010 Pacific Rim Championships junior all-around champion Jordyn Wieber of DeWitt, Mich., won the junior all-around title.
With an all-around score of 57.150, Larson, who trains at All Olympia Gymnastics, claimed the senior all-around title with a second place finish on floor exercise (14.600) and a fourth place finish on vault (14.700).
Cincinnati Gymnastics’ Amanda Jetter of Milford, Ohio, was second in the all-around at 56.800. Illinois native Mackenzie Caquatto of Naperville/Legacy Elite Gymnastics, finished third in the all-around, posting a 56.450, and landed in second on vault (14.850) and bars (15.050).
Sacramone is back ...!
2008 Olympic team silver-medalist Alicia Sacramone of Winchester, Mass., made her first competitive appearance since the Olympics in Beijing and won her the two events she competed in – beam (14.900) and vault (15.800).
2009 World and U.S. all-around champion Bridget Sloan of Pittsboro, Ind., took second on beam (14.700). 2009 Pacific Rim Championships senior all-around champion and World all-around silver-medalist Rebecca Bross of Plano, Texas, won the bars title (15.450). Hill’s Kytra Hunter of Frederick, Md., won the floor exercise title (14.650) and finished third on vault (14.800) and beam (14.650). Cassandra Whitcomb of Cincinnati, Ohio/Cincinnati Gymnastics, was third on the uneven bars (14.800) and floor (14.350).
The 2010 CoverGirl Classic was the final women’s gymnastics qualifying event for the 2010 Visa Championships, Aug. 10-14, in Hartford, Conn.
