Rhythmic Gymnastics
 (3) Grand Prix in Thias contra World Cup in Kalamata

Evgenia Kanaeva (RUS), happy in Thiais, five-times winner!
German Version
... a crazy international and un-rhythmic world Calendar!
This weekend world´s rhythmic gymnastics elite is divided between Greece (worlc Cup) and France (Grand Prix). Here in Thiais, the competition had a good representation of the best gymnasts, with Evgeniya Kanaeva from Russia, the current Olympic champion as the top star. And she confirmed all the bets which pointed to her as the favorite gymnast to win the gold medal. She did it without many problems, only with some troubles in her first routine with ball, beating her teammate Dariya Dimitrieva, who got the silver medal with a consistent difference.

At the end all Grand Prix titles were won by Kanaeva and Russia ...

Big surprise at Saturday evening: Germany in front of Russia...

After them, the bronze medal was taken by Irina Risenzon from Israel, with a charming performance, to the delight of the audience, but she couldn´t attend the final medals ceremony due to an injury, and was represented by her coach, Fira Vornov.

Fourth place was for Neta Rivkin from Israel, fifth was Caroline Weber from Austria (as the first Westerner and with a promising result) and sixth place was for the local star Delphine Ledoux, who was really cheered up by her audience.
The competition hosted 24 gymnasts of the best teams, and it resulted in a very interesting event, in the nice Palais Omnisport in Thiais, which will be continued this evening with the groups and junior all around competition.

* Individual All-around (qualification)
1.  Evgenia Kanaeva (RUS)  - 114.225
2. Dariya Dmitrieva   (RUS)  - 113.275
3. Irina Risenzon       (ISR)   - 105.525

4. Neta Rivkin (ISR)  104.200
5. Caroline Weber (AUT)  103.850
6. Delphine Ledoux (FRA)  103.525
7.    Rabstava (BLR)  103.050
8.    Maksimenko (UKR)  102.125

* Groups
The group competition finished with a surprise after the first rotation with Germany leading in front of Switzerland, Spain and Hungary.
Russia´s group had an extremely unlucky exercise with ropes and ribbons carrying a knot in one of the ribbons during nearly the whole exercise and multiple drops what meant that they didn´t even get 23 points for their performance. Nevertheless, after their second exercise with five hoops that still wasn´t perfectly clean they managed to achieve 27,650 points.

Germany was definately the biggest surprise of the evening winning in front of Russia and Spain whose gymnasts had greater expectations but were also unlucky with a knot in one ribbon.
The fourth place went to Hungary, on fifth placed the Swiss girls that have made a great progress this year especially with five hoops, and on sixth place France.

  Junior competition
Only two weeks before the European Championships, the junior gymnasts competed once again in Thiais.
At this competition only one gymnast per country was permitted and, as expected, the victory went to Russia´s Valeriya Tkachenko followed by Nataliya Leschik from Belarus and Victoria Filanovsky from Israel.
All of them showed exercises without mayor mistakes, but it´s obvious that there´s still some work to do before the main junior event of the year in Bremen.
On fourth place came Eugenia Onopko from Spain, on fifth Viktoriya Shinkarenko from Ukraine and on sixth place Aziza Mammadjanova from Uzbekistan.

* SUNDAY, March 28:
The Finals at closing Day
___________________________________________

* INDIVIDUAL
This Sunday in Thiais finals for groups and individual senior gymnasts took place where all gold medals went to Russia´s Evgeniya Kanaeva and Daria Dimitrieva taking gold and silver respectively with all apparatuses.
Only the third place was being disputed between the rest of the gymnasts, Alina Maksymenko from Ukraine getting bronze with rope, Neta Rivkin from Israel with hoop, again Alina Maksymenko with ball and Hanna Rabstava from Belarus with ribbon.
At difference with other competitions, here in Thiais with French Delphine Ledoux and Caroline Weber from Austria two non-Eastern European representatives competed in all finals.

--- 5 H o o p s:
At group competition the girls from Russia today had a better start and got 28,200 points for their exercise with five hoops that, nevertheless, wasn´t performed without little mistakes.
Second placed the girls from Germany who showed again a very clean routine and got the score they deserved.
On third place came the Hungarian group who made a faultless routine and took advantage of the errors of the Spanish girls that placed fourth.

--- 2 R o p e s / 3  r i b b o n s
The mixed group routine with three ribbons and two ropes was again dominated by the Russians but this time followed by the Spanish girls, who showed a well executed routine full of Spanish spirit, and the German gymnasts that got 25,650 points, the same mark as Spain.

In this cases the code of points previews that the execution mark, one of the three partial marks that composes the global result of the exercise, decides which gymnast or group gets the better placement – and this mark was higher for Spain.
It´s remarkable that the Austrian and the Swiss group could enter both finals, both having improved a lot since last year.

Strong German girls on second and third rank at the finals!
