Kapranova wins the 18th MTM tournament

Olga Kapranova (RUS)
18th NARODNI DOM TOURNAMENT 2005

Russian superstar Olga Kapranova became Queen of the 18th MTM Narodni Dom Tournament in Slovenian capital, where there were more than 60 gymnasts from 18 countries competing for medals.

<< Kapranova (photo, left), who was a favourite to win this tournament, showed beautiful performances and was the best in all-around. She is going back home with five gold medals.

Second place went to Liubov Charkashyna from Belarus and the Russian Zarina Mukhidinova took the bronze.
Slovenians Tjaša Šeme and Andrea Žegarac showed solid performances and took 4th and 5th place. ...

Younger categories were dominated by Canadians, Bao Bao Dou won among scholars in front of Natalia Garcia from Spain and Rosa Gerwik from Germany.
Yulia Bichun from Belarus was the best among youngsters in front of Canadian Tiffany Chu and Slovenians Ajda Mujdži? and Lea Golar. Jessica Ho from Canada also won the junior competition in front of Italian Veronica Longo and Slovenian Hana Gaber.

RG club Narodni dom was also honoured by a visit from the first RG Olympic Champion in history, Canadian Lori Fung - winner of Los Angeles Olympics, 1984 - who had a lot of success with her gymnasts.
And also another big name of this sport also honoured the organisers. Alexandra Timoshenko, who dominated this sport in the end of eighties and beginning of nineties of the past century and won 26 medals at OG, WC and EC, came to Ljubljana with very successful German team.

Another jubilee took part this year in Ljubljana. Mrs. Heide Bruneder, member of TC for RG at FIG and president of TC at UEG was the head judge of this big spectacle for the 10th time!
